Part-time Meat Wrapper (24 to 30 hours/week) Danforth and Southwood

Job Summary:

The Meat Wrapper is responsible for receiving and processing product and coordinating the appropriate flow of stock onto the floor. Staff are also responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.

Responsibilities

  • The meat wrapper is responsible for receiving, storing, wrapping, weighing, pricing, and rotation of meat department products which include pre-packaged deli and frozen items.
  • Delivers excellent, friendly, customer service and product knowledge to customers.
  • Maintains a clean, neat and organized workplace and shelf/display space with appropriate labelling.
  • Involves working in both coolers and freezers; temperature extremes in working environment.
  • Involves moving or lifting objects of various weights (up to 50lbs) and sizes.
  • Involves standing for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to sharp objects, large machinery.
  • Adheres to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.
  • At the Southwood location, if the Meat Wrapper is done with all Meat Department-related responsibilities they will help other departments with job-related tasks as directed by the Store or Department Managers if there is any down time and that they should check with those managers before taking a break.
  • Any other job-related tasks as required by the Meat Department Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • No previous education required
  • Previous meat room and customer service experience an asset.
  • Must have a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Positive customer service attitude.
  • Dexterity to lift and maneuver loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in closed quarters and perform repetitive tasks in varying environmental conditions.
  • Must wear CSA-approved steel toed shoes while on duty.

Full-time Grocery/Produce Staff (33 to 37.5 hours/week) Southwood

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Grocery/Produce Staff is to provide overall assistance to the department supervisor in facilitating product onto the sales floor while providing great customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Follows designated departmental methods and store policies and procedures including, but not limited to, organic compliance standards for prioritizing, organizing and receiving orders, labelling, rotating and processing stock, storage, cleaning and waste removal.
  • Maintains clean, neat, and appropriately labelled shelves (i.e. name of products, price, sale price, etc.)
  • Coordinates the flow of stock from the back store room onto the shelves and into bins on the sales floor, pulling and rotating product according to expiry dates.
  • Maintains awareness of spatial orientation on the floor to allow ease of customer traffic in the aisles.
  • Provides excellent customer service by offering prompt, informative and polite customer service to all customers when on the floor or over the phone  (includes retrieving products for customers and ensuring customer questions or concerns are addressed).
  • Unloading skids of product and receiving orders
  • Operating the walkie stacker forklift if necessary
  • Wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment as required (e.g. CSA steel toed boots)
  • Adhere to all operational and health & safety policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, fellow employees, and customers regarding special orders, product requests, and day-to-day briefs as per departmental methods and policies.
  • All other tasks deemed necessary by the Department Manager.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with produce, retail, grocery, and/or customer service is an asset

Part-time CSR / Nutritionist (16 to 24 hours/week) Southwood

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Customer Service Representative / Nutritionist is to provide overall frontline customer care, through clear communication with customers, staff, and department managers. The role requires effectively delivering one-to-one and group information either in a preventative or a service capacity, and to achieve and maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

CSR/Cash Responsibilities

  • Excellent customer care aptitude in all avenues of customer interaction.
  • Research and update customer handout sheets.
  • Process customer requests i.e cooking class enrollment, mail outs, nutritional store tours (refer to department training binder.)
  • Various cashier duties: keying in or scanning the price of merchandise, receiving payments, bagging productivity
  • Receive, stock, and face appliances/department products.
  • Follow opening, closing, and cleaning procedures.
  • Facilitate and support the roles of the Department Manager and Head Nutritionist.
  • Completes all tasks as indicated by Department Manager, Head Nutritionists, and Standards Coordinator as required to fill the needs of the job.
  • Identify and offer accessibility customer service assistance to anyone entering the building that has a visible disability. Involves retrieving desired items or providing personal shopping assistance.

Nutritionist Responsibilities

  • Researching how the body’s functions are affected by nutrient supply, examining the process of nourishment, and the association between diet, disease and health.
  • Well-versed in current products, trends, and food issues as well as the store’s active projects and ongoing standards initiatives.
  • Investigating the relationship between genes and nutrients, studying how diet affects metabolism.
  • Providing health and wellness advice and promoting healthy eating and lifestyle.
  • Involvement in outreach projects in collaboration with the PR in the Marketing department.
  • Advising on specific diets and dietary needs.
  • Educating customers about nutrition.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team/supporting the work of other healthcare professionals (NDs, Herbalists).
  • Host store tours regarding specific and general food related or store topic.
  • Responsibilities may include any additional job-related duties as required by the Front End/Wellness Manager

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • A degree in Holistic Nutrition from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum of 2 years previous customer service experience or working one-on-one with the public is an asset.
  • Training, knowledge, and awareness of Canadian organic standards, genetically engineered foods and food security is an asset.
  • Teamwork skills demonstrated from past work experience an asset.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and social skills.
  • Previous experience working with processing cash, debit and credit transactions an asset
  • Schedule (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Part-time Front of House Service/Food Assembly Staff (16 to 24 hrs/wk) Danforth

Job Summary:

Service and Food Assembly Staff are responsible for providing friendly and efficient customer service by portioning, slicing, assembling, wrapping, weighing, and labelling prepared foods. Staff are also required to assist with department cleaning and food prep as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service while efficiently serving and assembling food orders.
  • Assist in portioning, packaging, and labeling prepared food items.
  • In order to adhere to food health and safety standards, maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follows all designated departmental methods and policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safe food handling and organic compliance standards for food preparation, storage, serving and clean-up.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned by Food Service Managers and Supervisors.
  • Attends all required Organic Compliance trainings and follows designated protocols
  • In the event that compliance of organic standards procedures cannot be met, notifies manager/supervisor or Standards Coordinator.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • 1 year experience with food prep and food service.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Multi-task during periods of high customer volumes
  • Must be available evenings and weekends

Part-time Production Cook (16 to 24 hours/week) Danforth

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Production Cook is to use the knowledge and skills required to prep, cook, and store vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Such skills include being proficiently able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools including, but not limited to, proper knife handling.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows designated methods and policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safe food handling and organic compliance standards for food preparation, storage, and serving of vegetarian dishes and dishes containing meat.
  • Uses and maintains all kitchen equipment safely and appropriately and maintains a clean and safe work area as per policy and procedures.
  • Provides excellent customer service when in contact with customers or other staff.
  • Performs all other related job duties as required by the Food Service Managers and Supervisors.
  • Attends all required Organic Compliance trainings and follows designated protocols
  • In the event that compliance of organic standards procedures cannot be met, notifies manager/supervisor or Standards Coordinator.
  • All other responsibilities related to organic compliance that are recommended by the Standards Coordinator with the support of the General Manager and/or Store Manager

  • 1 year kitchen experience
  • Professional communication skills are required.
  • Ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Part-time Grocery Stocker (16 to 24 hours/week) Danforth

Schedule: Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 12:00 NN to 8:00 PM

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Grocery Stocker is to coordinate the flow of stock onto the floor, ensure that stock is rotated, expiry dates checked, and general stocking of the Grocery Department. Note that this includes the Fridge and Freezer section and Bread section of the Grocery Department. Excellent customer service is provided at all times when on the sales floor or over the telephone.

Responsibilities:

  • Offers prompt and polite customer service to all customers of the Grocery Department when on the floor or over the phone.
  • Handling customer questions and concerns in a friendly and informative matter to the best of his or her ability
  • Knowing which resource (person or department) can assist with a customer if it is beyond the stocker’s scope of knowledge, and kindly directing them to that resource.
  • Coordinate the flow of stock from the back store room onto the shelves on the sales floor
  • Maintain clean, neat, and labelled shelves
  • Pulls and rotates product, taking into account expiry dates and changing labels
  • Awareness of spatial orientation on the floor to allow ease of customer traffic in the aisles
  • Inform Grocery Supervisors and/or Manager of any price discrepancies
  • Ensure price tags are correctly displaying information, such as name, price, sale price.
  • Merchandise items with efficient space usage.
  • Keyholder with security codes responsible for securely closing the store
  • Operating the walkie stacker forklift if necessary
  • Wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment as required (e.g. CSA steel toed boots)
  • Adhere to all operational and health & safety policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed
  • All other tasks deemed necessary by the Grocery Manager.
